LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — School is back in session, “Go Big Red!” can be heard on the streets, and Labor Day is right around the corner.
It’s starting to look like fall.
The Huskers kick off in Dublin on Saturday morning, but if you’re still in town, here are some events that will make your Irish friends jealous.
Omaha Fashion Week – The whole weekend
Omaha Fashion Week returns to the runway for another season of fashion and glamour. Join other fashion fans and designers at the Omaha Design Center through Saturday, with a free Shop the Runway event on Sunday.

The Peter Max Experience – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Immerse yourself in the world of iconic pop artist Peter Max. This experience is free for everyone and open to the public as part of a limited-engagement presentation at the Roberta & Bob Rogers Gallery. The curator, Lesley Smith, will accompany the collection to Omaha.

Furever Home Pet Event – Saturday, noon to 2 p.m.
Meet new (lovely) friends at the Nebraska Furniture Mart. The Nebraska Humane Society will bring adoptable pets to meet, and NFM will have designs to showcase, product demonstrations and free giveaways. And influencer @littlesirmac will be there to strut around and meet new fans.

Trixie and Katya Live – Saturday, 8 p.m.
It’s a spectacular comedic musical drag show with the dynamic duo Trixie and Katya. Trixie and Katya Live is the first time these longtime collaborators and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni will hit the road with a concert-style spectacle and scripted satire inspired by classic road trip comedies. Critics call it “surprisingly poignant and blissfully brief”.

Millard Days – The whole weekend
Many favorite summer traditions return to Andersen Park in Southwest Omaha, including Carnival, Parade, and Family Fun and Safety Day.

Husker Opener: Watch Party and Tailgate – Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Head to Granary Green to watch the Huskers’ season opener in Ireland. Over 50 former Husker big names will be in attendance. Watch on the 27ft LED screen with premium sound. There will be food and drink at the tailgate for breakfast. For $10 you can get two free consumption tickets. Chairs are provided, but you can bring your own. Limited VIP tailgate spaces for your vehicle are available on site.

Waterloo Days – Saturday, all day, and Sunday, from 1 p.m.
A full program can be found on the Waterloo Days Facebook page, but patrons can expect plenty of food, drink, music and entertainment.

Downtown 101 – Friday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Restaurants, retail, arts, accommodations, entertainment and more will come together in one place in one night. There will be live entertainment provided by Lincoln Calling, lots of fun activities and plenty of free take-home merchandise. Pick up your first program at the Downtown Lincoln Association booth and complete all missions to earn a Downtown Lincoln Gift Card.

My Big Greek Festival – Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation will offer authentic Greek meals and pastries, drinks, auctions and a children’s booth. Bring your family, friends and celebrate Greek style. Stop by Saturday to see the Zorbas live.

Haymarket Park Beer Festival – Saturday, 5:30 p.m.
The annual Haymarket Park BeerFest features dozens of breweries and over a hundred different varieties of beer and adult beverages to sample. At the entrance you will receive a tasting cup. Each brewery tent will provide 3-5 ounce samples of their beers.
All BeerFest tickets include a ticket to Saturday’s Saltdogs game against the Cleburne Railroaders.

Sunday with a Scientist: It’s a World of Bug-Eating Bugs – Sunday, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Come meet two insect experts who will share what it’s like to work with insects – from beneficial insects like bees to less desirable pests. Professors Georgina Bingham and Judy Wu-Smart from the UNL Department of Entomology will present live insects, fun exhibits, and lots of information about what entomologists do and how their research and educational efforts help secure our food systems. .

Summer Musical Sunday – Sunday, 4 p.m.
Kinkaider Brewing Co. presents the Summer Sundays Live Music Series. Every Sunday throughout the summer, a free concert will begin at 4 p.m., featuring artists such as Wildwoods and Ro Hempel.

Plattsmouth VFD Fundraiser – Saturday, 3 p.m.
Help the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department raise funds while enjoying live music, food from vendors, a silent auction and raffle. Bring a chair or blanket and spend the afternoon at Runaway Ranch with the people who keep Plattsmouth safe. All funds raised will go directly to the department.

Art walk – Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Meet at Glacial Till Tasting Room at 5:30 PM for a glass of wine or cider, then continue around 6:00 PM to explore all the galleries and shops of Silver Street. (All shops will be open except the pharmacy.)
Late Summer Bash Color Dash – Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
The Elmwood Community Association will organize a little colorful run for the children, a water balloon launch and garden games. The event starts at 1:30 p.m., with the race starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 per child, $10 per adult.
When Pigs Fly BBQ – Saturday, 6 p.m.
Join the Chamber of Commerce of Crete at the Municipal Airport of Crete. Enjoy live music from the B Street Band, a barbecue meal and a cash bar. Get your tickets from the chamber office for $20. Tickets will be $25 at the door.

Back-to-school block party – Friday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
