Allow us to introduce you to this week pet of the week of the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
Hi, I’m Trixie – Experienced best friend, couch potato and companion dog. With 8 years of life experience, I’m pretty much a pro at being a pet. I love casual walks and have even shown signs of crate training (I don’t make a mess in my kennel at night!) That being said, it takes time to adjust to a new schedule. In my old house I lived with big kids and no cats, but I’m open to trying new things! To learn more about me, visit me at the Vanderburgh Humane Society! My adoption fee is $150 and includes my microchip and my vaccines.
What’s happening on VHS?
VHS offers standard vaccinations for cats and dogs, basic disease testing (FELV, FIV, Heartworm), flea prevention, heartworm prevention and microchip identification.
Walk-in ONLY! Open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
First come, first served via a numbering system.
Please understand that they try to see as many customers as possible, but demand is often greater than time allows.
**IMPORTANT** If you are bringing an unvaccinated puppy, please keep them off the floor to minimize the risk of spreading disease.
Dates for upcoming pet vaccination clinics on Saturday:
September 3 & 17
WATCH: Here are 30 toxic foods for dogs
To prepare for a potential incident, always keep your vet’s phone number handy, as well as an after-hours clinic you can call in case of an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline that you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.
Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is to prevent it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
RANKED: Here are the 63 smartest dog breeds
Is the breed of your faithful pup on the list? Read on to see if you’ll be bragging to the neighbors about your dog’s intellectual prowess the next time you walk your fur baby. Don’t worry: Even if your dog’s breed isn’t on the list, it doesn’t mean he’s not a good boy – some traits just can’t be measured.
