Ginger Karron Hewitt, 66, of Harbeson passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Hewitt was born on January 13, 1956 in Farmville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Harvey Lee and the late Bobbie Ruth (Spivey) Stepps.
Ms. Hewitt graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Class of 1971. She worked as a veterinary technician in the Philadelphia and Delaware area throughout her life. Mrs. Hewitt loved animals and was passionate about her craft. However, her dedication to loving and raising her family as a single mother was the most important thing in her life. After her husband’s death, she moved to Delaware in 1991. During her early years in Philadelphia, she was a drummer in a band called Detour. Mrs. Hewitt was a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was loved by many; she will be deeply and sincerely missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hewitt was predeceased by her beloved husband, Glenn Hewitt in 1989; and his brother, Mike Stepps. She is survived by her son, Michael Johnathon Stepps of Wilmington; his daughter, Rachel Marie Hewitt (Will) of Harbeson; his grandchildren, Lily, Isaac, Mikey, Manny, Patrick and Avalynn; a great-grandson, Jaden; his brothers, Jeff Lewin (Kathy) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Robert Lewin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and her sisters, Cindy Stepps-Ciuckis, Althea Stepps and Renee Stepps, all of Philadelphia.
A celebration of Mrs. Hewitt’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends can visit from 6 p.m.
Wearing a mask is compulsory and social distancing must be respected by all assistants and participants in the service.
