PISCATAWAY, NJ, July 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (ISTO), an international federation of leading industry groups and consortia dedicated to advancing standardized technologies to benefit industry, today announces Mr. Adam Newman as its new President effective July 11, 2022, replacing of the outgoing president, Marco W. Migliaro who has held the position since 2003.

Mr. Adam Newman has served as Chief Operating Officer of IEEE-ISTO for the past 3 years in conjunction with his role as Senior Director of Development and Operations of IEEE SA Innovations and served as the Executive Director of ISTO’s relationships over the previous 6 years, consistently leading revenue and program growth. for the OITS. For the past 9 years, Adam has led the development of all standards products and tools for the IEEE SA, while developing the operations of various programs including: the IEEE Conformity Assessment Program, IEEE Registry and the IEEE SA Industrial Connections Program. He actively managed the growth of relationships with distributor partners and business development, while overseeing a team of more than 30 employees and contractors in 3 related corporate entities. Additionally, he led the IEEE SA and ISTO in open source support for industry standards and projects creating SA Open and leading to the first IEEE standards incorporating open source software as well as the creation of the Open Source Fund in the IEEE Foundation. Prior to joining IEEE, Mr. Newman spent more than 20 years in standards and related business and systems development at Bell Communications Research, Telcordia Technologies and Iconectiv.

In his new role as President of OITS, Adam will oversee the operation and management of the OITS organization while continuing to grow the Federation of program members. Adam brings his proven experience in product development and management as well as strategic guidance from open source projects, which will help fuel ISTO’s future success.
