Taliban government comprising only one ethnic group will not last long

The leader of the second Afghan political party – Jamiat-e-Islami – Salahuddin Rabbani reacted to the Taliban’s interim government and said that a government made up of one ethnic group would not last long.

Salahuddin Rabbani wrote on his Facebook post that the monopoly on power has been known in the past and has been defeated and that the Taliban along with this cabinet will bite the dust as well, Khaama News reported.

The former foreign minister wrote the message from an unknown location as he fled Afghanistan to Islamabad before the Taliban takeover, and Pakistani officials say he has also left that country.

Rabbani said the Taliban are committed to establishing an inclusive government that is not seen in their new cabinet at all and accused the Taliban of being tribal extremists.

“The Afghan people will never accept the regimes that have been imposed by force and will fight to change the current undesirable situation,” the statement read.

Rabbani called on the international community and countries in the region in particular not to rush for recognition of the Taliban because the government does not represent all classes and ethnic groups in Afghanistan, according to the report.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on Tuesday (September 7) announced a 33-member interim cabinet in which no women are seen.
